Use Versive from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex
Connect your AI assistant to Versive through MCP, then build studies and read results in conversation.
Versive has an MCP server, so the AI assistant you already use can work with your studies. Ask it to create a study, add questions and logic, share the participant link, or summarize the responses, all in conversation.
The server works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and any other client that supports remote MCP servers. You sign in with your Versive account, and your assistant can only see and change what you can in the app.
Connect your assistant
Every client uses the same server address:
https://mcp.getversive.com/mcp
The MCP page in the Versive sidebar shows these steps for each client, with the address ready to copy.
Claude. Versive is in the Claude connector directory. In any chat, click the + button next to the message box, then Browse connectors. Search for Versive, click Connect, sign in to Versive, and approve access. Then enable Versive from the search and tools menu in a chat.
Claude Code. Add the server from your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http versive https://mcp.getversive.com/mcp
Then run /mcp inside Claude Code and select versive to sign in and approve access.
ChatGPT. Custom plugins need Developer Mode. Go to Settings → Plugins → Developer Mode and turn it on. Back in Plugins, click +, name the plugin "Versive", paste the server address, and choose OAuth for authentication. Sign in to Versive, approve access, and enable the plugin in a new chat.
Cursor. Add Versive to .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project:
{
"mcpServers": {
"versive": {
"url": "https://mcp.getversive.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Then open Cursor Settings → MCP and click the authentication prompt next to Versive.
Codex. Add the server from your terminal, then sign in:
codex mcp add versive --url https://mcp.getversive.com/mcp
codex mcp login versive
What to ask first
Once your assistant is connected, try one of these:
- "Create a customer discovery survey in Versive about <topic>, six questions, and give me the share link."
- "Add a screener to my <study> for people who used <product> in the last month."
- "How is my <study> doing? Summarize the responses so far."
In a workspace with no studies yet, the assistant offers to build your first one. Clients that show MCP prompts also list get-started, which walks you from a research goal to a study and its share link.
What your assistant can do
- Build studies. Create a study, add and reorder questions, organize them into groups, and set up skip logic and screeners.
- Share them. Every study comes with a participant link. Nothing reaches participants until you share it.
- Read results. List interviews, read a transcript, see completion and drop-off numbers, and export responses.
- Analyze. Use the summary and insights prompts to get themes, counts, and quotes across your responses.
The same rules apply as in the app: your organization role, each study's access settings, and your plan's limits.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an API key to connect my AI assistant?
No. Your assistant opens the browser, you sign in to Versive, and you approve access. The connection uses your own account and permissions.
Which plans include MCP?
Every plan. On the Free plan you can build and analyze surveys through MCP. AI features, such as AI questions and insights, need a plan with AI credits.
How do I disconnect my assistant?
Remove the Versive connector in your assistant. On the Versive side, access ends when you leave the organization or an admin removes you from it. For anything else, contact [email protected].
