What's new: more flexible logic, a smoother start, and more reliable insights

Show questions to everyone who did not pick an option, a smoother start for new teams, and more reliable insights on large studies.

A roundup of what we've shipped over the past two weeks, from more flexible logic to a smoother start for new teams.

Show questions to everyone except...

Logic in Versive could already check whether an answer matched something. But a lot of research questions are really about who didn't pick an option: a follow-up for everyone who isn't a designer, or a question for anyone who didn't choose "Never." Until now, that meant adding a condition for every other option.

Display logic and branching now support the opposite check:

  • Is not for single-select Multiple Choice questions
  • Does not include for multi-select Multiple Choice questions
  • ≠ for Rating Scale, NPS, Star Rating, and Number questions

So "show this question when Role is not Designer" is a single condition, and it keeps working when you add new roles later. It works in the builder, with the Versive Assistant, in the API, and over MCP. The logic docs cover every option.

We also made display logic feel smoother for participants. The progress bar now skips questions they won't see, so it moves the way they'd expect. And if they go back to change an answer, they're only asked later questions again when the change affects what they should see.

A smoother start for new teams

Getting from sign-up to a first study should be quick. New workspaces now start by choosing how to build that study: from scratch, by describing it to the Assistant, or from an AI app you already use, like Claude or ChatGPT. A Get started checklist on the dashboard then walks you through adding questions, trying the study yourself, and collecting your first response.

Bringing on a teammate? Our new help article on using Versive from your AI assistant is a good place to start.

More reliable insights on large studies

Insights on a big study can take a couple of minutes to update. If your connection drops while you wait, the page now keeps checking and shows the new insights as soon as they're ready, so there's no need to start over. Refreshing a single question's insights also holds after a reload.
